* Phædrus (c. 15 BC- c. 50 AD) was probably a Thracian slave and a Roman fabulist from Macedonia. He is recognized as the first writer to Latinize entire books of fables, retelling in iambic metre the Greek prose Aesopic tales. This edition is edited and have comments by the dutch philologist Petrus Burman (1668-1741) and others (See: Brunet IV, 588; "La meilleure édition de Phèdre qui eût paru jusqu'alors. Les notes, qui ont une pagination particulière manquent, dans une partie des exeplaires" and Schweiger p. 733). Rare edition!.
