Stamps on end paper. * Pindaros (ca. 520-ca. 442 B.C.) from Thebes, was probably the most famous lyric poet of old Greece. This is his victory odes grouped in four books as well as other works, with greek and latin parallel text. Henri Estienne, also known as Henricus Stephanus (1528 or 1531 - 1598) was a French printer and scholar. He worked for a period with Aldus in Venice, but seems to have had his own printing establishment, supported by the German banker Ulrich Fugger. "Der Text ist hier zuweilen verbessert, zuweilen aber auch noch mehr verderbt. Die lat. Uebers. ist verbess. Der 2te Thl. erhielt Vermehrungen" (Schweiger p. 235, see also: Brunet IV, 568). Gresk.
